Penang Classic Exhibition @ Prangin Mall

A shopping trip to Prangin Mall, lead me to Penang Classic Exhibition, located at Prangin Mall Ground Floor just at the escalators to Lot 33.  Basically in tell you the tale of Historical Penang in Photos, Displays, Replicas and Mock-ups, Games and Food Try out.        

The Exhibition consists of the following

• ·         Replica of Sia Boey Market
• ·         Try of Area of Traditional Kid Games
• ·         A Dragon Dance Replica & Martial Art Corner
• ·         Time Tunnel of Historical Photos  (this is worth the visit by itself)
• ·         Penang Traditional Street Food (for you to try)
• ·         And a Stage for shows.  

9 God Emperor Temple, Chinese New Year Pasar Malam

One of Butterworth Annual Happenings, is the Pre Chinese New Year Pasar Malam which is located in and around the 9 God Emperor Temple Located at Jalan Raja Uda (North).   Every Year independent Traders will start setting up alfresco stalls in the Evening/Night approx. 2 months before Chinese New Year, selling various Chinese New Year decoration, food, goodies and many more items which is usually required during the festive period. 

Note 1  For 2017. Chinese New Year will fall on the 28^th Of January,  The Chinese will be celebrating the Year of the Rooster.   

Note 2  The 9 God Emperor Temple in Butterworth, is the biggest in the area, Beautifully Decorated and Lit up at night, it’s one of the Tourist Sites of Butterworth.     Click here for more photo

Description of Butterworth Places 

Butterworth is within Seberang Prai Utara District, the Current District Capital is Kepala Batas.  Please note that while all facilities are available in town, Hypermarkets, Malls are located next door at Seberang Jaya / Perai / Bandar Perda / Bukit Mertajam, which is actually is another district. 

Bagan Dalam / Ferry Terminal / Jln Chain Ferry   

This is the logistic hub of Butterworth, Penang Sentral the Inter City / Local Bus Transport, Rail Transport, Taxi Services, Postal Services, Deep Water Wharf, Ferry to George Town, the proposed Cable Car to George town is all located here.      

Bagan Luar / Butterworth Padang / Kg Bangalli is the Butterworth Town Center,    Located in this area is the Butterworth MPSP Padang (Field) Proper Name : Dataran Permuda Merdeka, with the Adjacent Dewan Haji Ahmad Berdawi,  A good number of Budget Hotels, The only Cinema in town is located here as well as well as Magnificent Indian Temples  Click Here to View .
Jalan Kampong Bangalli have a selection of Electronic Shops, as well as shops specially catering to the Indian race.  -  this area use to be the administrative area of Penang Mainland,  Just to the west of this area across the Butterworth outer ring road is the Penang Port.

Raja Uda / Ong Yee How Area is Butterworth China Town / New Commercial district,  Jalan Raja Uda is a 4 km long road running north / south, and is also Butterworth Food Street,  We have the Apollo Market, Various Kopi Tiam, Restaurants, Cafes  as well as various commercial buildings. Bagan Jemal – Located to the west of Jalan Raja Uda, it is actually the old trunk road heading north, from Butterworth town center.  This is the Auto section of Butterworth.  Most of the Car dealerships, (new and second-hand) are located here. 

Mak Mandin   -  Is where most of the industrial activities are.  One of the more famous Chili sauce is manufactured here.  Lingam Chili Sauce.  

Bagan Ajam / Telok Air Tawar / Pantai Bersih -  The planed chunnel from Tanjung Tokong will meet up with the Butterworth Outer Ring Road here, linking it to the North South Highway.   Located here as well is the Butterworth Air Base and Sandy Beaches.  At Pantai Bersih there a number of Seafood Restaurant for you to dine alfresco and enjoy the View of Penang Island in the Evening.

Places Out of Butterworth Town.

Seberang Jaya,  is a new township just to the east of Butterworth, facilities in this area includes the Hypermarkets (Tesco / Aeon) , Sunway Mall , and together with Bandar Perda (to the east) is where  government departments has move to, namely immigration, hospital, transport, kastam, income tax, governmental higher education institutions etc.  In between Seberang Jaya and Bandar Perda is the North South Highway which link towns along the west Peninsular Malaysia. 

   

Chai Leng Park (Prai), located just to the south across the prai river, Chai Leng Park is a commercial and housing area, well know for its street food.  Just across the road is the current Biggest Mall in Penang Mainland : The Mega Mall. 

Juru Auto City,  Slightly further south along the North South Highway is Juru Auto City, just adjacent to the Seberang Prai Industrial Estate,  This is a Banking, Auto, Café, Restaurant Hub.
