Hi
There, I am a New Resident @
Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia, Come Join
me in Exploring this Exciting Town.
What Was Butterworth
Butterworth
was the administrative capital in Seberang Prai, (Penang Mainland), over the
years such government departments have move out to Seberang Jaya, Bandar Perda Bukit
Mertajam, and Kepala Batas. However the
Penang Port is still here, with its Iconic Ferry Service to the Island, Butterworth Railway Station and the
Butterworth Air Base.
What
Butterworth is now.
Name after
William J Butterworth (a British Governor of Penang) It’s now a suburb of
George Town, Penang Capital, and link to it by
ferry, and hopefully in the future by Penang
very own Chunnel (Bagain Ajam - Tanjung Tokong) and Cable Car (Ferry Terminal to Macalum Street)
Butterworth
is a sealevel town, border by the sea to the east (north channel), Perai to the
south (across by prai river), Seberang Jaya / Bundar Perda in the East, (also across
the prai river), and in the North we have the Air Base (Telok Air Tawar). Right now apartments are mushrooming up in
this areas
Within
Butterworth, Major Locations are the Ferry Jetty(Bagan), Taman Selat (Bagan
Luar), Town (Padang/Kg Banggali), Butterworth China Town Raja Uda,
and the Mak Mandin Industrial Estate. More of this in my 2nd posts
