Tips and Tricks on Using Facebook to promote your wedbsite / blog ie improving readership or views.

This post was the results of questing ask on “Why my Business Website / Blog has no results?” & “Why my Facebook account for business has poor result?”

You need to promote your website / blog, How?
When you check on the internet on promoting your web/blog you will get bombarded with terms like SEO, web optimisation, key word search etc which most people will not understand.  Why? So you have to look for people that will do it for you.  Now, I am not saying that it’s not important, it is in some ways but you can do without most of it initially, and can overcome it in time.  Web/Blog need time to be popular and gain readership

So let stick to the easiest method.  Submit your website/blog to this site, which will ping various search sites to inform them of your blog and its content   “https://pingomatic.com/”

Secondly within your own site, put as many links as possible to various pages, this is call backlinking and it seems that search engine give preference to sites with more back links.

Thirdly, It take time and content to get your blog notice.  So fill up your blog or website with content, interesting and various ………..

Forth, Get your friends & other people you can impose on to visit.

Fifth, after every few posts  ping again the search engine ….

Six, Now its time to harness social media,  I will use facebook as an example.

First off, you have to understand certain terms, and mechanics to the Facebook

Facebook Account:  this is the account whereby you interface with Facebook, You can use your own personal account or you can open another one.

Privacy is an import issue for most, as such most people will set it to friends or at the most friends of friends, then you start to wonder why no visitors.  You want visitors, so set it to PUBLIC.  That why open another facebook account, if you do not want your privacy impose on.

Get as many friends / workers etc to like your new account,  that important ………  and please please give this account some life, with various posts, of anything basically,  what your are promoting / selling, your shop, phots etc. if possible of things that is pertaining to you site.  and do keep on posting, don’t let it be dormant / or inactive

Now here the next step :  Open your Own Facebook Page

Facebook Page is basically a Blog / Website within Facebook, You can link your blog to your new facebook page, so its easy to promote and monitor within Facebook.  Do remember this,  Website / Blogs can be search,  Facebook page not so searchable.  Of course you can have a Facebook Page without a blog.

I would also recommend a post in the page for every post you do in the blog, for easy reference
Next step is getting people to like, follow, and even review your Facebook Page, utilise all your facebook friends, workers, relatives etc,  the more you have the more credibility your Facebook page will appear.

lastly, as before,  have new post in the page every so often.

Facebook Groups:  Facebook groups basically link people of similar interest together, eg photography, food, or even a location like a Town, or an apartment block………

So why is it important to you?
First you can join bloggers and social media groups to boost your likes, gain followers, get comments etc,  that important, or you can also pay for the likes, I don’t my pocket is not deep enough, so I have to go the organic way.  How do we do that?  Request for exchange likes and watch out for bloggers requesting exchange as well, like them and request they do so by living your link to your page.

Secondly once somebody like you, and follow you when you have a new post, they will be informed, and hopefully they will share, and the more people share, the more viewership there will be,  which is your objective.

Third, by joining the right group, eg if you are promoting your restaurant, join “food group of your locality”  so the members which are potential customers will get information can get information when you post/share/link to that group.  Some groups are large, some are small in terms of members but it’s the activity and interest that counts, which is why you need facebook page as you can see the number of interactions with your post, eg shared, like, clicks,

So after requesting to join and getting approve, its time to get to know the group better,  there is usually a pin post, which will let you know of the terms and conditions of the groups, what is permitted and what not before you start posting.  Do bourse around live some like and comments so the members will get to know you, further you can answer people request and comments with links to your page/blog if its pertinent, this will boost your readership.

Next is putting in your own post, You can share directly from your page or copy your link and paste it to the group, do write something about the link, so the members will know what the post is about.   An admin of the group may be required to approve your post to make sure it meet the guidelines.

Setting up your own Group

Once you get the hang of it, and have some response, it may be better for you to set up your own group, so you have better control for who are members and getting your information out, or even giving out rewards.
